Let's Talk Metallic Leather

One feature that makes The Debbie stand out in a sea of platforms is its Metallic leather. Metallic leathers always are a stunning addition to any wardrobe, adding a touch of drama to any outfit. By nature, Metallic Leathers are very soft and delicate and do require a bit of extra care to ensure the shine is maintained for years to come.

Please read below our top ticks and tricks on how to care for your Debbie's.

Apply Waterproofing Spray | Protective Measures

  • We recommend applying waterproofing spray/gel to any new pair of shoes to help with longevity. We have linked below a waterproofing spray that is designed specifically for metallic leathers.

  •  We recommend applying the Waterproofing products to the shoes immediately prior to wearing to help avoid any water-based stains.

  • TOP TIP: Instead of spraying the waterproofing product directly onto the shoes, spritz the product onto a clean cloth and gently dab the cloth across the surface of the shoes. This prevents an over-excess of product wetting the surface of the shoesWe recommend applying this spray regularly if the shoes are worn often. Which we are sure they will be!

    Regular Cleaning

    • Use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe away any dirt or dust from the surface of your metallic leather heels. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the leather.
    • For stubborn stains, mix a small amount of mild soap with water and gently dab the stained area with a soft cloth. Be sure to test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn't discolour the leather.
    • TOP TIP: We have found that using a small amount of Micellar Water on a cotton pad works wonderfully to remove dirt from the bottom of the soles to keep your shoes looking new all the time.

     Conditioning

    • Metallic leather, like all leather, can dry out over time and lose its luster. To keep your heels looking their best, regularly condition them with a leather conditioner specially formulated for metallic leather.
    • Apply the conditioner to a soft cloth and gently massage it into the leather in circular motions. Allow the conditioner to absorb into the leather for a few minutes, then buff away any excess with a clean cloth.

    Avoid Moisture And Humidity

    • Exposure to moisture and humidity can cause metallic leather to become discoloured or warped. To prevent this, avoid wearing your metallic leather heels in rainy or humid conditions.
    • If your heels do get wet, gently blot them with a clean, dry cloth and allow them to air dry away from direct heat sources.

    Storage

    • When not in use, store your metallic leather heels in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. We recommend storing your shoes in your LMS dust bag for safe keeping.
    • To help maintain their shape, stuff your heels with tissue paper or shoe trees before storing them.

    Professional Care

    • If your metallic leather heels become heavily soiled or damaged, it's best to seek the assistance of a professional leather cleaner or cobbler. They have the expertise and tools necessary to properly clean and repair your heels without causing further damage.

    Out On The Town Wear

The Debbie is designed to be worn all day and night, but please make sure you are conscious and careful of the surfaces you may encounter when out. Please be mindful of rough surfaces as these can cause scuffing or marking, the key is to take care.

We cannot wait to see you dance the night away in your Debbie's.
